Smoke Control Association delivers successful training course
The Smoke Controls Association’s (SCA) recent training course proved to be hugely successful with 30 delegates in attendance.
‘Introduction to Smoke Control – A Beginner’s Guide’ was aimed at building services engineers, building control inspectors, fire engineers and SCA members.
The purpose of the training was to help attendees identify best practice and improve industry standards, along with expanding their knowledge on smoke control systems and the integral part they play in improving safety within buildings.
The first one hour lecture was presented by Conor Logan, Chairman of the SCA and Associate Director – Technical at Colt International Ltd. Conor offered expert advice on UK and European legislation.
Will Perkins of SE Controls delivered the second part of the course and he took a close look at the latest systems, installation methods and maintenance requirements. Both lectures were followed by a Q&A session.
Will comments: “The training course was a big success. It was great to see such a high turnout and the feedback we received was really positive. Often it is not fire that kills – it’s smoke. A building’s smoke control system can significantly improve the life safety protection of the building.”
