EURIS highlights importance of successful UK-EU trade deal for the industrial product supplies sector

Further to the recent letter on trade by Leave means Leave, the EURIS Task Force which represents over 3500 UK companies with a turnover of £105 billion across the electrotechncial, electronics, renewables and mechanical engineering products, has written to the Prime Minister to highlight the importance of a successful trade deal between the UK and the EU for the industrial product supplies sector.

EURIS Chairman Dr Howard Porter said, “Trade is a key driver of growth and prosperity and has always been a crucial part of the UK and world economy.   A trade deal with the EU is essential to the future prosperity of the products supply sector, the job security of those working in it and the competitiveness of those sectors EURIS members supply to”.

Dr Porter added, “EURIS fully agrees that negotiations on trade must be prioritised and start immediately but are concerned about the calls in some parts for a ‘no deal’ outcome. We would welcome the opportunity to explain why a successful trade deal with the EU is so important for our industry to any organisation supporting this position”.
